If you’d like to submit photographs to the Portland Photo Competition, please do. Every photo we receive is considered. The competition is organised and sponsored by The Heights Hotel and Portland Visitor Information Centre. From time to time, Portland is showcased on the world's stage. What better way would there be to sell Portland to the world, than through the beauty of photos taken by those who know it best - that's you!
Please be sure to familiarise yourselves with our terms and conditions, so that you’re fully informed. These are as follows:
You are welcome to take photos of any subject matter as long as the photo is taken on Portland. The theme this year (2024) is ' Top of the Hill'.
By entering the competition, you retain the rights to your works while granting the event sponsor; The Heights Hotel and Portland Visitor Information Centre, the unrestricted, royalty-free, perpetual right to use, reproduce, communicate, modify and display the works (in whole or in part) for any purpose without any fee or other form of compensation, and without further notification or permission.
By participating in this event, you release and agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Heights Hotel and Portland Visitor Information Centre and its employees, directors, officers, affiliates, agents, judges and advertising and promotional agencies from any and all damages, injuries, claims, causes of actions, or losses of any kind resulting from your participation in this contest or receipt or use of any prize..

In 2017, we saw Sheila Hunn's picture of Osprey Quay win a prize, with the award of an afternoon tea for 2.
2018 was a great year for Jim Perkins, as he won the prize that year, for his photo of the Memory Stones. His beautiful photo can be seen on our home page to this website!
The 2019 winner was James Mullan, who submitted his view looking towards Blacknoor Fort.
2023 saw Roger Sutherland snapping some great shots from the sky, with his overhead picture of Portland Bill.
